Do You Know Where Your WiFi Is?

I’m very busy at work at the moment. For a change of seen scene, I took our little 12″ PowerBook down to the waterfront park near my apartment. Some kind citizen has kindly left their wireless hub unsecured, enabling me to secure a weak but servicable signal from the apartment building a good thirty yards behind me. If I was a savvier hax0r I’d dig around their network for, I don’t know, bank records and porn. Maybe tomorrow. For now, I’m happy enough to be writing a whitepaper with water lapping at my ankles.

  1. You know, it’s quite possibly that the person is granting the ‘free’ WiFi access on purpose and has a secure internal network with traffic shaping.

It has been known to happen. =)
