Ten Internet Fads

Here’s an excellent time-waster (URL currently hooped this might entertain you) for Friday afternoon–it’s ten Internet fads that you’re better off forgetting. #1 is pretty predictable, but I wasn’t familiar with several of the others. #6, for example, is fantastic in its utter Renaissance Faire-meets-D & D dorkiness. There are hundreds that aren’t on this list–it’s really a question of taste–but it isn’t a bad place to start.

  1. When I first went to that URL, I got Chad Kroeger bitching & whining about music downloads:

“I’d be surprised if young people know what the hell Sam The Record Man or HMV was. Everyone just goes to the computer, downloads whatever the hell they want, they burn it and then they just play it in their cars. That’s killing the music industry.”

Umm… no. That’s not killing the music industry. That’s reducing the profits of people whose goal is to make millions off selling overpriced recordings of music. It’s not killing the concept of live music. It’s not making people say “gee, I’d rather not be a musician. I think I’ll be a janitor instead.”

Not on topic of what you MEANT to post about, but I thought I’d share my experience and response anyways.
