For the first time in what must be many, many years, all six Canadian NHL teams currently hold a playoff spot. Things will no doubt change in the next few days, but it’s pleasing nonetheless. It’s going to be more difficult to argue that small-market teams can’t compete, isn’t it?

  1. In December, Dave Pollardargued that while it’s still possible to buy a Stanley Cup, the price of entering the playoffs is lower than it was last year.
