Link Round-Up: Women

A couple of these flirt with sexism, but in the best possible way:

  • A guide to girl
    watching form 1959
. All right, this one does more than flirt, but it’s
from a pre-feminist 1959. Kind of a PG-rated girly magazine for the discerning
    voyeur. Safe for work.
  • Socar goes on what can only be described as the
    worst blind date in history
. Incidentally, if you’ve been on a really
bad blind date, email me or comment, I want to know about it.
  • Mileva
    Maric
was a Serbian mathematician, and Albert Einstein’s first wife. She
may have contributed significantly to his work.
  • Is
    Marriage a Failure
    and other postcards from
    the distant past
    .
  • Bit of a cheat, but Oopsie
shows digital photos snapped by accident. As Sean
    Bonner reports
, it is run by a woman, so that’s how it fits into this
    list.

  1. My first date ever was a really bad blind date. I’d agreed to go along on a double date with a friend who was more “advanced with the boys” than I. We waited for them at the movie theatre until 5 minutes into the movie (I believe it was the first Batman) and then took our seats. We met them on the way out of the theatre. My “date” took one look at me and said, “I didn’t think you’d be so short.” (I was 12 years old and smallish for my age, but certainly not a midget). I didn’t actually speak directly to him after that, although we spent two more hours in Johnny Zee’s arcade following our respective friends around as they made gooey faces at each other.
