First URL in a Public Place

I’ve been listening to the Dave Winer talk (man, he’s feisty) that I just mentioned, and he just asked an interesting question (why it’s distributed as video, I have no idea–it’s just Winer as talkiing head):

Do you remember the first time you saw a Web address advertised in a public space?

I don’t, but I wish I did. If only I’d had this site eight years ago: “I was walking down Granville Street, loading the new Pearl Jam CD into my Discman, when I glanced up to see a Nike ad. What-ho! W…w…w…quelle URL!”

  1. I remember the first time I saw a URL.. I had no idea how to access it. at the time (second year university) I was merely getting accustomed to email. and everything is still fairly text based.
