As I’ve mentioned, I had a couple of friends visiting from Ireland last week. The weather was ridiculously excellent (luck of the Irish, indeed). In preparation for their visit, we assembled a list o’ fun things to do in and around Vancouver. They didn’t do everything, but made a serious dent. This is a handy list if you’ve got any visitors coming (or, for my non-local visitors, you’re considering visiting):
- Go to a Canucks game
- Granville Island
- See a play at The Playhouse
- Grouse Mountain for snowshoeing or skiing
- Vancouver Art Gallery
- Kitsalano Beach
- Shopping on West 4th and south Granville St.
- Walk around the Sea wall and English Bay
- Kayaking at Deep Cove/False Creek
- Museum of Anthropology, UBC
- Visit Victoria or one of the Gulf Islands
- Reifel Bird Sanctuary
- Stanley Park
- Harbour Air tour
- Squamish for eagle watching
If I cared more about food, I’d recount all of the fine restaurants we visited last week. Their favourites were The Sandbar and C.
If you are looking for a guide to some of the shops and restaurants in Kitsilano, we have a directory that you might want to check out. Have a look at http://www.shopkits.com and let us know what you think.
Regards,
Michael.
God, I’m so sorry that they had to see one of last week’s Canucks games…how embarassing.
Speaking as one of the Irish friends that was visiting Darren, the Canucks game was a big highlight, despite the result – where else would I learn what “They’ve dressed the goon” means, that Cookie is (usually) an excellent penalty killer and that my guy Bertuzzi is always last on the ice? Key life knowledge, you’ll agree. And great fun too!
Well, I didn’t know that Darren’s friends were REAL hockey fans (ie. people who enjoy the game even if the home team loses).
Glad you enjoyed it 😉
Why didya not include the golf courses?
Wait a minute, second thoughts, they are crowded enough!
Heh.
