I was half-watching Smallville the other night while using the computer. As the show reached its denouement at a rainy funeral, this simple, gorgeous version of ‘Time After Time’ was played (say what you will about Cyndi Lauper, but she could write one hell of a ballad). It turns out this is the title track from an Eva Cassidy album. I’d heard about Ms. Cassidy, and how she’d died at a young age and her album Songbird went on to do very well, but I’d never heard her sing. I was blown away, and am currently downloading a few songs. Tomorrow, despite the absurdly inflated prices here in Ireland, I think I’ll go buy one of her albums. You can read more about Eva in this heartfelt tribute.
